  • Dear Sir,

I am writing to you concerning your project of conservation and revitalization of Historic Kars, Eastern Anatolia.

There are one or two matters which i feel i should bring to your attention.

In your video, you never mention the Armenian heritage about historic sites in Kars.

The city of Kars belongs to Ancient Armenia which includes among others sites of Ani, ancient capital of medieval Armenia, Mount Ararat and Aghtamar Island.

In Kars, there is in particular a splendid Armenian Apostolic Church, Sourp Arakelots Cathedral, which was illegally converted into a mosque in 1998. Many Armenian churches were savagely destroyed. Others are very damaged and need to be restored in particular in Ani and Aghtamar.

I give you below several links about the Armenian History in Kars, Ani and Aghtamar.

Therefore, you should work in collaboration with specialists in Armenian religious architecture in order to restore all the sites that belong to the Armenian cultural and historical heritage in Kars, Ani and Aghtamar.

Moreover, there are many other Armenian religious sites that are impaired and need to be restored in the Republic of Armenia, Eastern Anatolia, the Djavakh and Nakhichevan regions and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabagh.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours faithfully.

    Benjamin Kasparian, France
